Located in the heart of the Al Maaden site, a few steps from its monumental Sculpture Park and the Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden (MACAAL), MACAAL Residence is the museum’s residence and production programme.
The MACAAL Residence is conceived as a place for living and sharing, open for periods of 1 to 3 months to visual artists, researchers and curators from the African continent and its diaspora, as well as to any research or production project that is connected to the continent.
In addition to being a place for exploration and creation, the residence is open and accessible.
The residence regularly receives visits from collectors, journalists and art world professionals. Open houses, workshops and meetings are organised to allow the resident artist or researcher to interact with local communities on the subjects of the residence project and artistic approach.
