بعد تقديمه لأول مرة في إطار برنامج «مكال خارج الجدران»، بمناسبة الدورة الأولى من مهرجان فوتو طنجة الدولي للصورة، يُعرض المعرض الفردي «في رمشة عين» للمصور والمخرج المغربي داوود أولاد السيد في فضاء Artist Room بمتحف مكال، من 18 شتنبر إلى 29 نونبر 2026.
After a first presentation as part of the MACAAL Hors les Murs (Off-Site) programme on the occasion of the inaugural edition of Photo Tanger, an international photography festival, Le temps d’un battement de cil (In the Blink of an Eye), a solo exhibition by Moroccan photographer and filmmaker Daoud Aoulad-Syad, unfolds in MACAAL’s Artist Room from 18 September to 29 November 2026.

على مدى أكثر من 45 سنة، طوّر داوود أولاد السيد عملاً فوتوغرافياً متجذراً بعمق في الثقافة الشعبية المغربية. يحتل فنانو الشارع، والمهرجون المتجولون، وأصحاب الألعاب، والناس العاديون مكانة مركزية في أعماله، حيث ينسج من خلالها سرداً بصرياً يلتقط تفاصيل الحياة اليومية، واللقاءات، وأشكال الحضور البسيطة التي تعبر الفضاء العام.
For more than 45 years, Daoud Aoulad-Syad has developed a photographic practice deeply rooted in Moroccan popular culture. Street performers, travelling entertainers, fairground workers and ordinary people occupy a central place in his work, shaping a visual narrative attentive to everyday gestures, encounters and the subtle forms of presence that animate public space.
يُعرف الفنان بصوره الفوتوغرافية التناظرية بالأبيض والأسود ذات القوة التعبيرية الكبيرة، إلا أن هذا المعرض يكشف جانباً أقل عرضاً من أعماله من خلال مجموعة من الصور الملوّنة. يضم المعرض 36 صورة، منها 24 صورة تُعرض لأول مرة، مما يتيح منظوراً جديداً لرحلته الطويلة في استكشاف المغرب وإنسانه ومشاهده. وهذا الرقم ليس عشوائياً، إذ يحيل إلى 36 لقطة في شريط الفيلم التقليدي، في إشارة مباشرة إلى تقنيات التصوير التي ما زال الفنان مرتبطاً بها بعمق.
Renowned for his highly expressive black-and-white analogue photography, the artist reveals a less frequently exhibited aspect of his practice through a selection of colour works. Bringing together thirty-six images, twenty-four of which have never before been printed, the exhibition offers a fresh perspective on his long-standing exploration of Morocco and its human landscapes. The number itself is significant: it echoes the thirty-six exposures of analogue film, a direct reference to the photographic processes to which the artist remains deeply attached.
تحت إشراف القيّمة فرح معقل، تتحول الـArtist Room، من خلال سينوغرافيا صممتها المعمارية سارة أيوب، مع الإنتاج السينوغرافي لمعاذ العلو، إلى فضاء للتجول مستوحى من إيقاع الشارع. وينقسم المسار إلى ثلاث محطات: الساحة (Sa7a)، المخصصة لأشكال التجمع الشعبي؛ الزنيقة (Znika)، التي تركز على مشاهد الحياة اليومية والحركات الحميمة؛ والقيصرية (Kisarya)، المخصصة للديناميات التجارية والفضاءات التجارية الشعبية.
Curated by Farah Maakel, the exhibition, conceived by scenographer Sara Ayoub, with exhibition design production by Mouad Laalou, transforms the Artist Room into a space for wandering inspired by the rhythms of the street. The visitor journey unfolds across three sections: The Square (Sa7a), dedicated to popular forms of gathering; The Alleyway (Znika), centred on scenes of everyday life and intimate movements; and The Market Gallery (Kisarya), exploring commercial dynamics and popular trading spaces.
في نهاية المسار، يُعرض فيلم لداوود أولاد السيد، مما يواصل تجربة المعرض ويعكس العلاقة الطويلة بين التصوير الفوتوغرافي والسينما في أعماله، حيث تشترك هاتان الممارستان في الاهتمام بالإيماءات، واللقاءات، وإيقاع الحياة اليومية.
At the end of the exhibition, a film by Daoud Aoulad-Syad extends the visitor experience. Its inclusion reflects the way his practice has long moved between photography and cinema, two mediums shaped by the same attention to gestures, encounters and the rhythms of daily life.
من خلال هذا الاختيار الجديد، يقدم معرض «في رمشة عين» نظرة على المغرب في ثمانينيات القرن الماضي، من خلال الإيماءات، والحضور، وإيقاعات الحياة اليومية.
Through this new selection, In the Blink of an Eye offers a view of Morocco in the 1980s through the gestures, presences and rhythms of everyday life

About the artist
داوود أولاد السيد مصور ومخرج وكاتب سيناريو، ولد في مراكش سنة 1953. حصل على دكتوراه في العلوم الفيزيائية من جامعة نانسي سنة 1981، ثم اتجه إلى السينما بعد مشاركته في ورشة للإخراج في مدرسة «لا فيميس» سنة 1989.
أخرج أول فيلم قصير له سنة 1991 بعنوان «ذاكرة مغرة»، ليتبع ذلك بفيلم «بين الغياب والنسيان» سنة 1993، ثم فيلم «الواد» سنة 1995.
وقّع أول أفلامه الطويلة «باي باي السويرتي» سنة 1998، ثم تلاه «عود الريح» سنة 2001، و«طرفاية» سنة 2003، و«في انتظار بازوليني» سنة 2007،
و«الجامع» سنة 2010، و«كلام الصحراء» سنة 2017، و«المرجة الزرقاء» سنة 2025.
حظيت أعماله الفوتوغرافية بالعرض في العديد من المعارض، من بينها معرض «فوتوميد» بمدينة ساناري سور مير سنة 2013، و«دابا ماروك» ببروكسيل في بلجيكا سنة 2012، وبرواق شاتو دو لو التابع لبلدية تولوز سنة 1999، وشهر التصوير بمدينة بيين في سويسرا سنة 1998، وبمتحف فولكنكونده بمدينة روتردام سنة 1996، وبمتحف أكيتين في بوردو سنة 1991، بالإضافة إلى معهد العالم العربي بباريس سنة 1990.

Photographer, director and screenwriter Daoud Aoulad-Syad was born in Marrakech in 1953. After earning a PhD in Physical Sciences from the University of Nancy in 1981, he began working in the film industry after taking part in a film workshop at FEMIS in 1989.
In 1991, he directed his first short film, Mémoire Ocre. This was followed by Entre l'absence et l'oubli in 1993, and Al Oued in 1995.
He made his first feature film, Adieu Forain, in 1998, followed by Le Cheval de Vent (2001), Tarfaya (2003), En attendant Pasolini (2007), La Mosquée (2010), Les Voix du Désert (2017) and Le Lac Bleu (2025).
His photographic work has been the subject of various exhibitions, including Photomed, Sanary-sur-Mer (2013); Daba Maroc-Bruxelles, Belgium (2012); Galerie municipale du Château d'eau, Toulouse (1999); Mois de la photo de Bienne, Switzerland (1998); Museum Voor Volkenkunde, Rotterdam, Netherlands (1996); Musée d'Aquitaine, ARPA, Bordeaux (1991) and at the Institut du monde arabe, Paris (1990).
He has also published four books of photographs: Marocains (1989), Boujaâd, Espace et mémoire (1999) and Territoires de l'instant (2000), Daoud Aoulad-Syad, MEP (2015).
